Updated

I'm seriously going to try to update this as I finish our theme each week or two! Let's hope I can do it!

Fire Prevention

A visit to the library

snack

Never open a hot door, find another exit--- this was one of my favorite projects to do with them! So cute!

5 Little Firefighters, I got the idea from here: http://tippytoecrafts.blogspot.com/2011/10/five-little-firefighters.html

Five little firefighters sleeping in a row.
Ring goes the bell, down the pole they go.

They jump on the engine and put out the fire.
Now they're back home, but they sure are tired.

A Few Christmas Ideas

I'm going to try really hard to keep this blog updated! I just gotta remember to take pictures each day! Here's a couple projects that we did in the past week:

Angels, hand them each pick the color they wanted their angel body, then I traced the outline on the paper and let them cut it out, added angel wings and a circle head and let them draw their face. Love this picture- the angel is busy singing!

Handprint trees, worked best to do 4 trees on the bottom layer, 3 on the next, 2 then 1 for the top. (I put a line of glue and gave them the number of trees that they could put on there, so it somewhat looked like a tree when we were done) Added a star for the top and red circles for our holly berries and the brown rectangle for the trunk.

Gingerbread Man
Paint a paperplate brown, added rickrack for the headband, foam pieces for the rest of the face. One suggestion-- I let them choose the foam shapes for the mouth (I had all sizes in the bowl), I think that littler ones would look better. of course, they all choose the biggest shapes that they could find!

Foam Turtle we put together from oriental trading

Candy cane-- the kids loved to do this project, I had the candy cane shape pre-cut then we used painters tape to stripe our candy cane, they painted the red and we removed the tape and they were amazed!

Puffy Paint Gingerbread
Mix shaving cream and glue with paint and let them paint. These feel so cool when they dry! --the more paint they put on, the longer it takes for this to dry!

One of our Christmas bulletin boards, Santa's Helpers
They each glittered the elf bib and santa hat, then I printed out their picture.

My all time favorite project to do!

Trace their foot and hands on white foam (sometimes I spray glitter on these before I cut them out)
Add their picture and  bend a pipe cleaner for the angel halo. This bulletin board we titled, Nicci's Little Angels... how perfect, my daycare name :)

Catch Up :)

Here's a couple things we did for Thanksgiving:

Turkeys-- feathers are handprints, body is their shoe traced

Indian Corn with buttons... the kids really liked this project!

One of our Thanksgiving bulletin boards, No Turkeys Here! Turkeys with disguise glasses

I made these little pilgrims to hang up, probably one of my favorite things :)

Here's a closer look!

Halloween Ideas:

I guess I will play catch up! Here is a bunch of halloween art projects we've done the past couple weeks. Sorry that the first couple pictures are upside down.

Witch
Paint a paper plate green, add orange handprints, black hat, orange eyes and once dry, the kids can draw on a mouth

Ghost
Use their footprints for the white ghost, add various art supplies to the ghosts. These always turn out super cute. My kids are older this year, so I let them each decorate their own.

Glitter on a pumpkin

5 Little Pumpkins

Use popscicle sticks to make a fence, added foam pumpkins. Then we added the following poem:

5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate
the first one said, oh my it's get it late
the second one said, there are witches in the air
the third one said, but we don't care
the fourth one said, lets run and run and run
the fifth one said, i'm ready for some fun
oooooooo went wind and out wen the lights
and the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight

 Candy corn man

Cut an orange candy corn shape, add white for the bottom and the top. Add arms & legs.

Mummy
Cut out a mummy shape, add tissue/kleenex squares over the mummy

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Color the house, add a straw for the water spout and a spider ring so the spider can climb up and down

Owl Babies
We made these after reading the story, Owl Babies, use cotton batting for the owl bodies, add yellow/black eyes. This is one of my favorite stories!

Cat/Spider

Use black plates, add features as seen above

Cat

Glitter Spiderweb

Spider Handprint

Crows

Trace foot and hands on black paper, add triange feet, beak and white circle eyes.
